Femoral artery means reasonably quick death as I understand it. I don't think the femoral artery was hit because the autopsy determined that none of Atkins' stabs were capable of causing death. But there's may be a few "ifs" and "buts" about that. Even if not fatal, they were all between 1 and 1.5 inches deep which, to my mind, is pretty deep. When you think about it, that's a pretty vicious attack by itself even before Tex starts stabbing and shooting. Atkins' 8 stabs by themselves would have earned a pretty stiff sentence.
Ya kind of have to tip your hat to Mr. Frykowski.......He went down fighting, refusing to go quietly into that dark goodnight. Too bad he couldn't have taken one of those murdering slimeballs with him.
Raining Cats and Dogs here in N.C........ Aloha, Swenny
I wonder whether VF was fleeing simply to escape or was he fleeing with the hope of summoning help? I know the sound thing in the canyon ended up being unreliable, but he may well have held out hope that he would be heard, or else he could get to help.
Back in the house actually, he might have been in 2 minds about what to do. He saw Sebring quite bravely (on behalf of Sharon Tate) challenge Tex, only to be shot dead straight away. VF must have wondered WTF do I do now? Make a break for it ? Or stay and try to protect the girls.
IMO, he was going out the door to holler for help, I am surprised the neighbors didn't hear him hollering....in retrospect, they aren't THAT far from the main gate.
Anyone know if WF's car keys were found in his pocket?
And yet, for the stories told about Frykowski, the incident with the police in Poland springs to mind....he couldn´t put away small, feminine Susan Atkins when his life was on the line.
To be fair I think he did enough to get past Sadie, why he never punched her is a mystery but if his main goal was to get out the door then he probably "was never going to look back and get out that front door".
This caused immediate panic. And Tex ordered me to kill the big man on the couch. Well, I went over to him and I raised my knife — and I hesitated.
And, as I hesitated, he reached up and grabbed my hair and started pulling my hair. So I had to fight for my life, as far as I was concerned.
We fell against a chair that was next to the couch. He was fighting and I was kicking him. I was all of a sudden fighting for my life. Wow!
Then I proceeded to stab him five or six times in the leg — but I would say it was in self-defense. I luckily enough had the knife in my hand, because the man was big and with one whack, he could have — wow!
And then while this was going on, Abigail was getting loose and fighting with Katie. And Linda, we found out later, heard some noise and went back down and sat in the car, so we had no watch for the outside.
Susan claims she stabbed Frykowski "in self-defense!" Good one!!
