I watched this last night on Netflix streaming and Jim Jones' techniques are AMAZINGLY similar to Charlie's. Jim Jones' son speaks out about his father and it is like Charlie all over again. He said he could read a person and pitch them to guide them into the cult. His son left right before the mass killings/suicides. I highly recommend watching this for insight into Charlie and Jones' personalities.
Some consider it a sort of apologist site, but they have the most comprehensive info out there--a bunch of FOIA info too!
I have studied this as long as I've studied Manson. I have the rarest, hardest to get books on the case. 2 of the actual survivors. Fascinating stuff! Trying to sell them now!
This documentary pushes the typical narrative, scratch the surface of this case and it is what everyone says it was--a mass experiment. There are people alive today that have a lot of 'splaining' to do in my mind.
I have been working on a short story from the perspective of an unwanted foster girl for awhile now. It is very slow in coming.
Jim Jones was a total sicko. It is crazy how many people killed themselves by drinking poison, he never though he shot himself?. He makes Manson seem semi-normal. Watched a docu on him and all the bodies I seen So sad. Will give the one you recommended a go Miss T.

Very few people killed themselves by drinking poison voluntarily. The almost 300 children did not. About 300 people had needle injection marks and many were shot with either a gun, cross-bow or were strangled. I would venture a guess that less than 100-200 people actually took their own lives voluntarily. It was one sick operation!

coldwater: Yes, ediesleftshoe30, apt description. Eyes non-stop watering, amongst other maladies, but I am so upset about the kids who have perished—needlessly. As well, of course, all whom have died, that I’d gladly trade my momentary discomfort for, well, you know.

coldwater: The sun attempted to break thru the smoke and marine layer earlier; that was startling. I’d like to know how Our Counselor is faring? Maudes as well. Although I think they’re both out of the zones, many of us have family spread out.

Pappy: We saw the Sun yesterday for about 2 hours, and then smoked overwhelmed the valley again. The air is pretty bad, unhealthy for most people. The fire in our area continues to burn, over 200,00 acres gone.

valleygirl: Been seeing images on the television news about your fires, stay safe all you guys.
